my gym pet peeves.

Hey urybody!!!!

Hope your Thursday is a flyin’ by and then before we know it Friday will be upon us!!!

Shall we start with my annoyance during spin class last night..well there were two things that annoyed me so lets roll through both…

numero uno. people should not wear sports bras with no shirts while at the gym. like seriously i really don’t care if you have the most ripped 6 pack in the whole history of the world, just don’t do it. it is obnoxious, showy, and kind of just makes me wanna smack you for being so cocky. and like seriously sometimes at the gym i get insanely sweaty, but i never just whip off my shirt haha maybe if it were like some extreme situation and i felt like i was going to pass out from being so hot and sweaty i would..but i am pretty sure that would NEVER happen because the gym is air conditioned homies!! gah just had to vent that one out.

numero dos. the spin instructor who teaches the 5:30 class i usually go to after work has been playing the same freaking cd for the past 3 weeks!!! like we do the same drills to the same music and i am literally about to go insane! like whip out a new cd homeboy…after all it is your job to teach spin aka you are getting paid to do it…so in my opinion not prepping new music for class is sort of like not doing half your job….anyone else feel me on this?! like i can see maybe every few weeks replaying a playlist…but not 3 weeks straight! that is approximately 6 spin classes i have gone to and heard the same music!!!

haha ok wow apparently i had a lot of anger built up inside of me today..glad i could get it all out! and please people comment and tell me i am not crazy for feeling this way about these things…or tell me i am crazy and then i will just get over it haha but either way, let me know your opinions!

Alrighty, so after spin last night I came home and was craving salmon and veggies! I had bought these frozen salmon patties a while back and figured they would still be good because I had frozen them…um yikes when cooked the salmon def tasted like it had freezer burn and was super dried out! i even tried topping it with some orange marmalade to help moisten it up..but no success! I ate like 3/4 of it and then just enjoyed my roasted zucchini and squash that i had made!

Then, this morning I got up early and got my workout on…

I actually have been pushing myself distance wise when I run because I want to do a half marathon soon, so today I felt like I really got a lot of bang for my buck aka worked hard for it being so early! haha

I expanded a little on this workout and ended up getting in almost an hour of running, with only 10 minutes of that being walking on an incline!

Then, breakfast was another smoothie! I am just loving my portable smoothie maker clearly!This smoothie had greek yogurt, almond milk, spinach, frozen mango, fresh strawberry, & 1/2 of a banana..topped once again with some homemade granola goodness!

Then, during my lunch break I hit up Nordy Rack once again…I just browsed the store yesterday and took in what I saw, then today I went back and got a couple of things that I decided I really did like! It’s always a good plan to sleep on it before buying clothes, at least for me it is! Keeps me from making impulse buys!

When I got back I was greeted with freshly baked cookies!!!

Yum, I devoured half of this before lunch and the other half after!

Lunch for me was a super yummy kale salad…

It had strawberries, carrots, celery, feta, dried cherries, cinnamon almonds, and a honey/apple cider vinegar dressing…sooo good & fresh 🙂

Alrighty, I am off to finish up my last hour at work and then hit the grocery store before going to my little sister’s play tonight! Hope you all enjoy your evenings and I will see you back here tomorrow!

why can’t i make decisions?!

hello all!

so quickie post cause i have like 5 minutes before i have to finish up at work!!!

soooo…dinner from last night was super yummy!

what was in it? 1 chicken/apple sausage link, 4 mini bell peppers,1/2 c. shredded brussel sprouts (from trader joes), 6 mini zucchinis chopped into pieces….sauté everything in 1 tbsp. coconut oil and top with cheese! I used Brie and it was to die for….

And I seriously can’t make up my mind about spin or running today?! Why is this so tough??? I think I may flip a coin…seriously though. I am officially a weirdo!

my problems drinking water…

ok let me get this minor rant out…

So, I have been trying to drink more agua lately because I hear it’s good for you and I know I don’t drink enough and ya…so I go out and buy myself a nice water bottle and have been hitting that thing like nobody’s business! I’m slurpin’ all day long, but then…problems occur!

I have to pee like every 10 minutes! It’s insane! I don’t know if I have some type of small blatter or something, but it’s getting ridiculous! Maybe it’s a mind thing now haha but I need advice…how do all you water drinkers manage not to spend the whole day peeing?! Or do you just adjust to have to use the restroom frequently? Fill me in because I am in such a dilemma…to drink and pee or not to drink and to be dehydrated?! What’s a girl to do! haha

 

Anyways, on to lunch today…to start I had an unpictured salad (I ate that thing in like 2 minutes flat), it was leftover from the other night at dinner and had apple, dried cherries, sharp white cheddar cheese, and pistachio meat..I topped it with a squeeze of lemon as my dressing.

Then, I also had a sandwich with a spread of Brie Cheese (comes in prepackaged wedges courtesy of Trader Joes), cut up apple slices, cinnamon, and honey..it was super yummy and kept me full all afternoon!

Now, on to my workout…..SPIN CLASS! I am going with my sis..a little nervous because it kicks my butt! But should be a good workout and nice to switch it up!

Good morning all!

Sooo happy today is Friday! Finally some time to sleep in, read, have coffee while watching the morning news (or if it’s Sunday then watching SNL from the night before!!), go out to breakfast, clean, do laundry,  take afternoon naps, watch hockey, cook yummy food, go hiking, shop!, restock my groceries, do yoga…yada yada yada I could keep going but these seem to be my favorite weekend things to do!

This weekend my sister and I have plans to go for a hike in Laguna Beach, so that should be fun! Hopefully we stick to it, because sometimes we can be lame and decide to stay in our pj’s all day rather than embark on the adventure we had planned! haha but we will see!

Anyways, lets start with last night…check out how nice it was out yesterday!

This was on my drive home from work…everything just looked so clear and pretty! Plus my favorite time of day is in the late evening like from 4-7 during spring/summer, when the sun starts going down and there is a nice warm breeze and everything just feels calm and serene out! It literally is the best time to go for a swim or take a walk or sit on the porch and enjoy the warm weather and last bit of daylight. Gah, I am so excited for summer to get here!!!

Last night I went to dinner with a friend at a nice restaurant right on the marina. We went right as the sun was setting and we could look our from our table to see the water, boats, and sunset, which made for quite a nice atmosphere! Dinner was a goat cheese & beet salad, fried brie appetizer, and 3 mini sliders (1 short rib, 1 kobe beef, 1 pulled pork, all delicious!).

Here is the only pic I remembered to snap…and it’s kind of wimpy since the sliders are pretty much devoured at this point haha but I can assure everything tasted wonderful!

This morning I was able to get up early and attend spin class like I did last week! Once again I got such a great workout and it really helped loosen up my still sore legs (darn you squats!).

Finally, breakfast this morning was a veggie juice to start with again…

I felt like such a little health nut getting my fresh veggie juice after spin class haha look at me go!

When I got home after the gym I had a banana w/small scoop of sunbutter and some vanilla soy milk. Then, at work I had a cereal mix of Special K Vanilla Almond, topped with blackberries/raw cashews/& vanilla soy milk..yum!

So far it has been a good day and I have been in a very good mood! While I was sitting in spin this morning I just had this moment where I realized how far I have come in my eating disorder recovery and how much better off I am now than I was a year ago!

It is crazy how much things can change if you commit yourself to something. And most of the time the hardest part are the first few days of changing your habits & behaviors. I remember feeling so uncomfortable at first when I started to eat normally and healthfully. However, I eventually came to find that I enjoyed living a healthy lifestyle and now I cannot imagine living any other way!

Hopefully for anyone out there struggling with self-confidence, or an eating disorder, or overeating, or any hard time really I hope you remember that you have the strength to overcome anything. All you have to do is reach inside yourself and find something that will make it worth while for you to make it to a better place. For me it really came down to the fact that I really want to have kids some day and I knew that if I continued to starve myself or purge anything I ate, I would never be able to have a family! For me that was all I needed to make a huge change in my life.

I started reading every book I had on recovery and looked to some of the coping methods I had learned while in an intensive eating disorder recovery program and I began to actually listen to what all of the therapists, doctors, and recovered e.d. sufferers were saying! I am not saying it was easy, but I am saying that I am so much happier now that I ever thought was possible. I feel strong and healthy and happy to be alive, and I hope to share my story and my strength with others who may be suffering and need a person to believe in them.

So, anyone out there if you need someone to listen to you or support you or give you any advice at all…I am here and willing to help!
